We've been having the best time decorating our cabin for Christmas this year. We'll be celebrating the holidays here this year. Also, I think it has served as a much needed distraction and a place to hide away from everything else going on in the world.
Let's start in the kitchen, my favorite spot on any holiday home tour. We have been planning to make a pot rack to hang over the island so we decided to go ahead and hang a vintage sled there in the meantime. After Christmas, I plan to use the sled to hang pots from until spring arrives. Then we will likely make another pot rack like the one we have at our NJ home. We sorely need more storage space in this little kitchen and I think having the pots and other often-used kitchen items stored overhead will help.
I think the addition of the DIY seating area has added some much to the cabin. I love how cozy this spot is. I've also noticed that everyone gravitates towards the comfy bench seating first, including me!Breakfast is Billy's specialty at the cabin. As long as it is considered breakfast food, he'll make it!We brought in a small tree from the property to use as a Christmas tree in the dining room. I kept it simple with candle lights and dried orange slices.
Next, let's head down towards the family room area. On the way, we'll pass by the mudroom.
We added a bigger real tree to the family room. The deer head over the fireplace has been a fixture at the cabin for many years. None of us are hunters but Jim (that's what we call him) came to us via a good friend of my mother and father-in-law whose name was also, you guessed it, Jim, Who was better known to my husband and kids as Mr. Jim. Jim's (the deer's) life ended in an unfortunate road accident involving Mr. Jim's car in the Catskills and after that he hung on the wall at Mr. Jim's cabin until he sold it and then passed it on to us. So Jim is here to stay the cabin. :)
Wishing you a happy and healthy holiday season, from our family to yours!

DeleteHow do you do it? Every year you blow me away with your Christmas decor. Your cabin looks like a scene in a Hallmark movie. I study your pictures every Christmas hoping I can absorb just a smidge of your talent. Sorry to say I’m no where close🤷♀️ Merry Christmas to you and your family.

ReplyDeleteAnd to you and yours, Beth! Merry Christmas.
DeleteCourtney, your cabin looks like it should be in a Hallmark movie! It's so warm and snuggly. I often wonder...where do you store all the seasonal things you have in both homes? I have a ton since fall and Christmas are my time of year, but you've got me beat by a mile.

ReplyDeleteStorage is certainly a big part of it as you know! :) I store it all in bins in the attic. I am very deliberate about what I keep and much of it will be displayed through winter and then switched out for the spring/summer decor - I rotate the same bins for all the seasons at the cabin, which is different than my NJ home which has dedicated Christmas bins in the attic. Thank you and Merry Christmas!!
DeleteI truly look forward to seeing what you are up to next, and I'm in love with everything seen here! There's so much to take in that I can stay on a scene for several minutes as I walk around the picture in my mind! After the holidays, is your holiday decor packed and stays there or does it all come back home? =) I wouldn't want to leave this place - ever! MERRY CHRISTMAS to you/family!!
ReplyDeleteLoverly! I know this question has been asked before, but I've never seen your answer. Where do you find all your quilts we see in your pictures? Do you or a relative/friend make them or are they "finds" at thrift stores and antique malls? I repost a lot of your pictures to my Facebook Group: Autume/Fall, That's All https://www.facebook.com/groups/706156549953194 We would love to have you join. Merry CHRISTmas to you and yours from us and ours!
