Hello! I just love the quieter days at this time of year when we can get cozy at home without as many obligations as the holiday season seems to bring. I always enjoy adding a couple of new cookbooks to my collection and trying out some new recipes.
I added in a couple of new decor items to our kitchen for winter. The print of the bowl with oranges above the range is from Target as is the new runner. Both are by Studio McGee for Threshold. I also found a vintage chair at one of my favorite vintage shops near the cabin and it was painted such a pretty shade of blue that I left it that color. It reminds me of that Julia Child blue, much like my kitchen island paint color (which is Oval Room Blue by Farrow and Ball).
I made the yarn ball wreath hanging over the sink a few years back and I always bring it out in January. I enjoy less color this time of year and I like that this adds in some softness and texture without color and I especially like how it glows when the light hits it in the late afternoon.
Candlelight is another wonderful element at this time of year especially and I added these 2 brass candle holders from Farmhouse Pottery to my collection recently using a gift card my boys gave me for Christmas. I love that they are heirloom quality and I light them in the late afternoon when I begin to think about what to make for dinner that evening.I enjoy having this little seating area next to my kitchen so much! We spend more time as a family lounging in this area and the kitchen than any other place in our home.
I added a block print quilt from Target to the sofa to protect it from the spills and dog hair that inevitably build up in a much used space. This way I can just throw it in the washing machine. And I like the interest it adds to the space.
The other part of our home that we spend a lot of time in this time of year is our family room because that is where the wood burning fireplace is. I brought the ice skating picture for above the mantel that had been holiday decor in our kitchen for Christmas. I'm enjoying the lovely softer colors and lot of candle light too. The 2 light on either side of the mantel are from Ikea (Tarnaby light fixture) and add a pretty glow.
Finally, I put our bedroom back together with some neutrals too and it feels like a breath of fresh air up here for the cooler months.
Most of the bedding is from Target. The block print euro shams are a super affordable way to get that block print look that is so popular right now and they are very soft. The longer beige and white stripe pillow is also a recent Target find. Thanks so much for stopping today! Please feel free to email me or ask for more sources in the comments. I tried to link the newer items that I thought would be of most interest but I usually end up missing a few things that you are interested in.
