After scouring Craigslist for months and never finding quite the right table, I came across this table on Houzz. It is by Kincaid Furniture and is the Homecoming Table in Vintage Pine. We do still need to either find a new bench or paint our old one black to match the Windsor dining chairs. I think we will probably paint it and see how it looks for now.
We have enjoyed several weekends in the Adirondacks this fall. The foliage is the prettiest I have seen in years.
Autumn is certainly a season of change. We can learn a lot from how beautifully a tree lets go of its leaves, still standing strong in its roots.
At home, we are slowly getting used to our new path. Billy has begun his new security job and, although it is an adjustment, it is going well so far.
Even the rainy days in the Adirondacks are pretty in Autumn...
We are at home in NJ this weekend and it finally feels like fall here. There is a pot of homemade chicken soup simmering on the stove and I watched the new Netflix show, Salt Fat Acid Heat - have you seen it? The chef/host is so warm and approachable and I loved it so much that I went to the library to borrow her book of the same title. I am about halfway through the book and feel like I've learned some really useful tips about cooking from her. Highly recommend.Happy Fall!
Somehow, I missed that show on Netflix. I will check it out! I retired last month to become a caregiver for both my partner with dementia and for my mom age 95! It has been an adjustment to say the least!! Even our Golden seemed confused for awhile....why was I home? But we are settling in to our new normal! Autumn seemed like the perfect time to retire....to let go.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE that table! Perfect for the room and your family!
Chris. West Texas where it is raining...and raining...
Oh my, Chris. You certainly have a lot on your plate. Sending you a big hug. I hope you are able to enjoy your retirement. It is a huge change full of highs and lows. Our goldens can certainly sense the changes too. I think that's what makes them such wonderful pets/family members. I hope your rain ends soon. We've had so much rain here too.
DeleteCourtney, your fall photos are incredible! I think all the rain we had these past few months contributed to the pretty colors this year! At least it was good for something! I haven't seen that show but started watching A Million Little Things and Manifest. I am enjoying both but I am not sure if I want to commit to them yet. Love the new table! It looks perfect with the black chairs. Enjoy your week!

Yep, maybe that rain was good for something! Hoping the leaves are pretty in NJ too this year. I haven't watched the shows you mentioned. I hear you about committing to them - there's only so much time! Have a great weekend!!
DeleteGood morning courtney,
ReplyDeleteI always look forward to your posts when I see them in my inbox. Your home is so warm and cozy and you motivate me to make some of my own changes!!!
The pictures of your travels are gorgeous! We are going to visit my son at college in central N.Y. next weekend handful hoping we see some leaf changing. Nothing much on long island yet.
Happy Sunday
Thanks so much for your kind comment, Beth. Not much foliage in NJ yet either. You should see some lovely color in central NY next week. Enjoy and Happy Sunday.
DeleteOh my Courtney, the fall leaves are amazing! My husband retired last May and we have a trip to New England to see the fall glory on our bucket list. Here is Missouri we have a few trees that show their beautiful fall colors, but nothing compares to yours.
ReplyDeleteThanks Debbie! Fall in New England is definitely a sight to behold. You will not be sorry to make that trip. The only tricky part is going at the right time. Peak leaf season is short and always a challenge to pinpoint each year. Happy Retirement and Happy Fall!!
DeleteOh wow, the foliage is amazing. Such beautiful photos.
ReplyDeleteOh how pretty Courtney. We are just starting to have the leaves get pretty here in Illinois. Happy Sunday.
ReplyDeleteHugs,
Kris
Fall is lovely there and I love your new table, too! Life changes are inevitable and can be stressful...taking them as gracefully as possible, is a good choice!
ReplyDeleteWow! The beauty just takes my breath away. Thank you so very much for sharing these beautiful colors with us. Autumn is my favorite season of all. Colors, pumpkins, apples, crisp air.
ReplyDeleteDo you have a favorite off the beaten track hideaway for these pics?
My jaunts thru the Adirondacks were driving the Northway to a small town near Plattsburgh to spend time with my grands.
I like your new DR table. Perfect for gathering your family together.
Wow, what gorgeous color! We are finally seeing cooler temperatures here, and I for one could not be happier. Love your new table and all your pretty fall decor. I will have to look for that show. We love to watch cooking shows together.
ReplyDeleteYour table is perfect for family. I've been looking for a long harvest table for quite a while and have decided to try building one. Fingers crossed!
ReplyDeleteLove the table and chairs! I also love that chandelier! Looking for something different to go over my island...may have to check it out! Fall color is gorgeous!!! Have a great one!
