I decided to put the tree in the corner by the bookshelves so that the twinkling tree lights could also be enjoyed from the bathroom. I didn't fuss with any ribbon or garland for this tree. I simply added every silver and blue ornament that we had in our Christmas boxes from years past.
I wanted to add some sort of focal point over the bed. I had pinned this quote by Laura Ingalls Wilder a few months back. I decided to add it to a "scroll" which is actually just a roll of white wrapping paper that I wrote on with a Sharpie.
I am thrilled with the results of this affordable and easy project and I have lots of ideas for what I can make using this same process in the coming months after the holiday decor is away.
I kept the blue and white color scheme that we have year round and added pops or red for the holidays. The red quilt is actually the reverse side of the green and red plaid quilt I used in here last year.
I re-located the chair that is usually where the tree is to the other side of the room and created a cozy place to read under the window.
This Christmas tree is now 20 years old. Billy and I bought it our very first Christmas as a married couple. It has seen better days but it still lights up year after year and it has sentimental value to us now.
I picked up the old rustic toolbox in the picture below at an upstate sale this past fall. I love how the old chipped paint and wood looks with the sparkly ornaments.
Dax wandered upstairs while I was taking these pictures and decided that this would be the perfect spot for an afternoon nap. Thanks for stopping by to take a peek at our cozy Christmas bedroom.
Your bedroom looks gorgeous! You always inspire me with your pretty ideas and use of color. Dax is as handsome as ever!

Thanks Shelley! I have attempted neutral decor, but I always come back to color. Dax sure does love the camera...or should I say the treat that comes with the camera! :)
DeleteIt's so cozy and Chrismasy and I love the quote, so true!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kristin! I saw that quote one day this summer and I just knew I had to use it this Christmas.
DeleteThis is so pretty! I never think to decorate my master bedroom - that's usually where all the "mess" goes so I can keep the living areas looking nice. I'm going to try to do at least a little bit of Christmas in the bedroom this year. Your room looks so festive! Dax is sooo cute! I have a gray and white feisty kitty on my bad.
ReplyDeleteFunny you say that because I told my husband I was skipping the master bedroom decorating this year. Because like you said, it is convenient to use the bedroom to stash the extra stuff during the holidays. But then I remembered how much I love walking upstairs to my room at the end of of a hectic day during the holidays and see the twinkling lights. It really is worth it. And I stashed the extra stuff in my son's room this year! :)
DeleteI absolutely love it! Its so cozy . I have wanted to put another tree in our dining room but just never bit the bullet and did it.
ReplyDeleteAhhh just gorgeous Courtney. Dax agrees that is a special place to take a nap for sure.
ReplyDeleteYour decorating this year is stunning.
Hugs,
Kris
SO lovely, Courtney. I really love your style...the room looks beautiful!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful!! Can you tell me where you got the 3 blue and white pillows on the window seat? Your colors are right up my alley!
ReplyDeleteThanks Karen! The pillows on the window seat were purchased at Christmas Tree Shops a couple of years back. I am not sure if they currently have them or anything similar.
DeleteYOur home is amazing I pretty much pinned your whole home. Could you possible share where you purchased the navy and white curtains for your bedroom, are let me know the name of the fabric. Thank you and Merry Christmas
ReplyDeleteI too fell in love with the curtains. Would you share where they are from?
ReplyDeleteThanks Mandy. The curtains are from Lowes. I purchased them in store. The pattern is called Tembolo and they are by Style Selections. Hope that helps!
