I started out by re-arranging the furniture just a bit. This room feels cozier (and a bit smaller) with the sofa facing the fireplace and cozy is exactly what I was going for this autumn.
The stone fireplace is always the star of the show at this time of year. I added a few pumpkins, books and dried hydrangeas to the mantel. The wooden lanterns on the raised hearth are a new addition this year from Hayneedle.com.
The faux orange pumpkin was a HomeGoods find this year and the smaller white and blue pumpkins are from Wal-Mart (and at just under $3/pumpkin they are a great value! I found them in a bin by the produce department). Both the hay wreath and "count your blessings" sign are HomeGoods finds from years past, but I have seen similar items there this year.
Sitting by the fire with a book or magazine is my idea of the perfect way to relax on those first chilly evenings.
I hung the pallet sign I DIY-ed a few years back on the planked gallery wall and added a few fall scene paint by numbers.
I love the warmth the Pottery Barn console table behind the sofa brings to the room. I have been stalking the large Beachcomber baskets at PB for years but could never bring myself to spend the money (they are $$). I was so excited to find a very similar basket at HomeGoods recently for a fraction of the cost.
We have grown accustomed to using this round table in the family room. Board games, quick meals, homework and art projects are just a few of the things that happen here.
Down here, I enjoy keeping this room more traditional and full of the warm colors of fall. Upstairs, things are a lot lighter and brighter with a few pops of fall color. I hope you'll stop by next week when I continue this tour in our kitchen.
Wour home looks so pretty with the Fall colors. Looks so " homey " I really like the mantel. More pictures of those two pretty Goldens please. 🐕🐕

ReplyDeleteThis room is just the kind of room I'd like to snuggle down in to. That fireplace is gorgeous - the stone is beautiful with the wooden mantel, especially the arch. Just overall wonderful, so cozy! And if I had a Dak to lay on the rug next to my chair . . . well, that would just be the icing on the cake :)
ReplyDeleteYour family room is so cozy I can definitely see why you love to relax here! There are so many cute decorating ideas and that's what I love about home tours. How you arrange things, your little vignettes...well, you have a great talent, Courtney!
ReplyDeleteHappy Fall!

DeleteI'm inspired that you use dark colors in your decorating with dogs! I have five (1 a golden) and I have hair EVERYWHERE!! How do you handle keeping it off the pillows, etc.?
ReplyDeleteThere IS hair everywhere and I am forever vacuuming! I use a lint roller to get the hair off the pillows quite frequently.
DeleteHi, love your site. You are so talented! Can I ask where you got that "librairie" sign? It is so cute. I am a librarian, so ... would love to have one if you could share where you bought it. Thanks
ReplyDeleteI love your fall decor! It is all so cozy and inviting. I feel like I could just curl up with a book in front of your fireplace.
ReplyDeleteWhat a perfectly wonderful space...and a cozy spot for your husband to recuperate! Glad he is doing well!
