Target Dollar Spot Kitchen Paper Dispenser

I think the Target Dollar Spot has a new name, but I will just keep referring to it as the Dollar Spot anyway :)  Many, actually most, of the items now cost more than $1, but there are usually great values to be found in that little gem of a spot.  It's my favorite part of the whole Target shopping experience.

On a recent trip, I spotted these art paper dispensers for kids for $7.  I have been looking for a way to hang butcher paper in my kitchen and a light bulb went off in my head that this could be just the ticket.  For way less money.

So I knew I could paint the dispenser (they were all bright kid's colors), but where to find butcher paper to fit?  Well, right in the next bin was kraft wrapping paper.  Bingo!  It was a little too wide to fit in the paper dispenser, but I knew my husband, Billy, could remedy that for me with his hacksaw.

I brought both items home, painted the paper dispenser gray with craft paint and hung it up on the cabinet next to our refrigerator.
For now, it is decorated for winter.  But I know my family will have fun leaving notes for each other and drawing silly pictures with this.  I also picked up a roll of chalkboard wrapping paper to use as another option when the kraft paper runs out.
Target had so much cute stuff for the holidays this year!  Have you found anything exciting in the Dollar Spot lately?

  1. Oh my gosh I love shopping at the Target $1 spot! I found last week adorable buffalo plaid red/black baskets that small trees fit in perfect, bought 2, needed one more and GONE. So lesson learned there.
It's a great place to help Santa with ideas to fill those stockings too.

    1. Yes! You definitely have to grab stuff when you see it. That spot is dangerous. The "dollars" add up quickly.

  3. So cute! I will have to be on the lookout for one! We also bought the buffalo check baskets, plopped in a pretty poinsettia and took them to the ladies in my husband's office. They looked like a million $ :) Which I may have spent in the dollar spot over the years, lol!

    1. Hi! Thank you. I think Target would be worth a 35 minute drive for me :) We hope to retire in either the Catskills or Adirondacks and my husband always warns me that there won’t be multiple Targets and HomeGoods close to our house either place. I am pretty sure living in the mountains will more than make up for the lack of nearby shopping.
