He held on for as long as he could, but we had to say goodbye to our sweet Forrest. Our hearts are broken. And filled with gratitude for 10 years of companionship & love. So much love. Just love...
Oh Courtney, I am so sorry. I never met Forrest, yet I am crying over this sad news. I know how much you and your family love him and my heart breaks for you. You will be in my thoughts. Take care dear friend. Shelley
Thanks so much, Shelley. I thought having 3 months to get used to the idea of losing him would help, but if anything it only made me even closer to him :( We are hurting but we are finding comfort in Keeper. Please give your Rosie a hug and belly rub from me! xo, Courtney
I am so sorry for your loss. It just breaks my heart to see a furry loved one pass away. I started following your blog just a couple of months ago and fell in love with the pic's of your sweet pups. My thoughts are with you and your family today.
I'm so sorry. I know how big the hole in your heart is and how much it hurts right now. Saying goodbye is the hardest part of being a pet owner...and loving them so dearly. Hoping in time your memories of all the good times will bring you comfort and make you smile. Until then, be gentle with yourself and take good care. (((HUGS))) to you and your family.
Courtney...I am so sad that you had to say farewell to your wonderful Forrest. He was a lucky dog to have lived a life where he was much loved....think of him with joy in your heart.
My heart is breaking for you. I think we all know how our dogs become the one member of our family that is always there for us with unconditional love, adoration, companionship, entertainment and comfort. Forrest was also loved by many of us who read your blog and I know I looked forward to seeing his wonderful sweet self every time I read your posts. He will be missed, not only by you but many of us who came to love him, too, through you. Thank you for sharing him with us. He will be at The Bridge waiting.
Thank you so much for your beautiful comment, Susan. As difficult as it was for me to write today's post, I knew I needed to share the news about Forrest with friends like you, who grew to love him through my blog. He will forever be the "golden" in the blog's title. xo.
Sincerest sympathies to you and your family. It is so heartbreaking to lose a wonderful member of the family. He was such a beautiful dog! Blessings to your family during this sad time.
Courtney, I can't even imagine what you and your family are feeling right now. I'm am truly sorry for your loss. I know he will be greatly missed. Sending you love, hugs, and lots of prayers, CoCo
Awwww! What a beautiful dog, Forrest was! I know you will hold him in your hearts forever. My golden, Lola, is now 17 years old and we know she will leave us soon. Hugs to you!
I'm so sorry to see this sad news. I know so well the loss of a four legged family member. People who are not pet lovers just don't get they are truly part of our heart. My heart goes out to you and your family.
Aww I'm so sorry. I was just thinking of him last night and I made a comment on your instagram. It's so hard when you lose them. I hope he's at the bridge playing with Tristan and Lincoln.
So sorry Courtney for your loss. He was truly a special member of your family and I know you are all missing him. May the wonderful memories of Forrest help sustain you through this heartbreaking time. Hugs my friend. Kris
I knew from the title of your post that the inevitable had happened but I still hesitated to read...I knew I would cry and I am. I am such an animal lover and like many who have commented, I've been through this. It's never easy and it won't be for a very long time.
Sending you a huge hug, Courtney, and love to your family. Forrest was such a blessing in your lives for ten years, a long time but never long enough.
Oh I am so sorry. We had to let our 12 year old golden, Mikey, go back in the summer. We cried for days... They take up such a huge place in your heart, and when they are no longer there...a hole happens. I love goldens, but we are not ready to take in another one. They become our babies...and our companions. sheila
I just started reading your blog and love it. I am so sorry about sweet Forrest. We have a seven year old golden who is like my third child. Hugs to you and your boys.
Oh no...I'm so sorry to hear this. Pets bring so much love to our families...I know this hurts so much. He seemed like the best dog...I know you will all miss him terribly. Love being sent your way...xoxo
Oh, Courtney, I missed this post earlier and I'm so sorry for your loss. It seems like just yesterday that we lost our Big Buddy. It is such a hard experience to go through. I just can't say how much I hurt for you and your family and for the loss of that great love and loyalty...Judy
I love your blog in part because I am the mother to 2 golden girls - twins from the same litter. A few weeks ago we got the terrible news that one was stricken with lung cancer and had days to live. Through chemo, we had her a month, but she crossed the rainbow bridge on November 13. We are crushed as I know you are. It's the worst.. Perhaps my Anabelle and your Forrest are romping together right now :-)
I am so sorry to hear about your Annabelle. It is so devastating to get that awful and sudden cancer diagnosis. What a lovely thought that our goldens could be romping together!!
So sorry to hear about your loss. Dogs are our best friends, they love us unconditionally and it's such a pain when they pass away.
ReplyDeleteThank you for your kind and helpful words. xo
