My mother and I spent a lovely day together in Clinton, NJ this week to celebrate Mother's Day.
I will be away for the weekend so we decided to get together earlier. We have decided that we will make this an annual tradition for the two of us.
Mother's Day has gotten to be such a commercial day with crowds everywhere and lots of expectations.
My mom and I browsed through some shops, had lunch together and just took in the beautiful spring day.
Back at home, we are enjoying watching two bird's nests in our yard. There is a Cardinal in a shrub by our pool and a Robin in a fern by our covered patio. I will probably lose the fern because I don't want to disturb the nest by watering it. Such a privilege to watch these momma birds. I took a quick picture (while standing on a chair). It was hard to get it in focus because I didn't want to touch anything.
I will be spending today with my guys. Doing nothing in particular. My favorite kind of day. I hope you have a lovely Mothers's Day!
The larger speckled egg in your photo was laid by a Brown-headed Cowbird. Cowbirds are brood parasites and if you allow that egg to hatch, the more rapidly growing cowbird chick may well crowd out and starve the robin chicks. ReplyDeleteHi Courtney,
ReplyDeleteWe celebrated Mother's Day early too and I think we feel the same way. Do it early when there is less going on and not so crowded everywhere. Today I am going to just enjoy the quiet of the day. Have a great day today. Celebrate the great mom you are. Enjoy.
