This week, the winter doldrums have hit me hard. I am so ready for warmer weather, and yet we still have a ways to go before we can even hope for higher temperatures. I think fresh flowers in the house help. I picked up these deep blue hydrangeas at Trader Joe's this week.
The cold weather makes me want to cook something yummy in my dutch oven. This week we enjoyed this paella recipe from the Barefoot Contessa. I substituted shrimp for the lobster her recipe called for. It was delicious. And so easy to make.
My organizing spree has continued and I am excited to share more of what I have gotten done this week. I am currently working on our master closet, which is a space I have never shared on this blog. It is a decent size, but not exactly Pinterest worthy. We have been making a few changes so it functions better for us. Today, I am trying to find a place for the scrapbooks that currently sit on a shelf way high up in our closet.
Like lots of moms, I was an avid scrapbooker back in the day when my kids were little and scrapbooking was all the rage. For the last five years, I have created photo books with iPhoto and because their size is much more manageable, those books sit on display in a basket in our family room. But these big (not so pretty) scrapbooks hold some amazing memories and I know we would all look through them much more often if they were easily accessible. So fellow former scrapbookers, I am asking you, where do you store your big scrapbooks?
What I'm Watching:
I have been binge watching the first two seasons of House of Cards on Netflix and I am so hooked on this show! I can't wait for season three to start the end of the month.
I am about halfway through Everything I Never Told You and it is a captivating story. I am trying not to read it too fast.
Best Thing I've Seen Online:
Did you see this post that made its way all over the internet last week? Three brothers re-created the pictures of their childhood as a gift for their mom. The pictures were hilarious. Funny thing about being a mom of all boys...people sometimes act as if they feel sorry for you. Especially when my boys were younger, I can't tell you how many times I heard, "Oh you poor thing" or my favorite, "When are you finally going to have your girl?" I thought this post illustrated so beautifully what a blessing, and a riot, it is to raise boys.
These three guys remind me so much of my own. What a lucky mom their mom is to get a gift like that!
Have a great week! And please let me know in the comments if there is anything wonderful you are watching or reading.
You've got a nice weekend going on your way, Courtney! I've got so many free books loaded to my Kindle right now, I can't believe there were times I was going crazy with nothing to read. I signed up for ebook arrow which often times has a free book or two based on your genre selection (not necessarily new) and I get an email from them every day. I have about 7 books sitting on my kindle, plus the one I'm reading, yet my co-worker keeps telling me about a new author she is just loving. I wish there were more hours in the day for me to just read!
ReplyDeleteI'm sure you'll figure out the scrapbook storage. If you do, let us know. I didn't do scrapbooking but I have photo albums galore and right now they sit in a couple of boxes in our guest room closet. I have started doing photo books through Shutterfly for each year of my granddaughter's life. I am actually behind and need to get 2013 and 2014 done over the next couple of months.
Hi Kathy,
DeleteI am behind on my 2014 photo book too. My middle son, Kyle, keeps reminding me! And I am like you in that there are too many books to read and not enough hours in the day. But I love knowing I have an assortment waiting for me on my kindle “just in case”. In case of what I don’t know, because with ebooks I could always download another instantly..lol. Is ebook arrow something you recommend? I am curious.
I will let you know if I come up with a better way to store these scrapbooks. So far I have no ideas. Time to hit up Pinterest.
Have a great Sunday!
Courtney
Hi Courtney. Remember the book I told you about a while back, "No Time for Goodbye" by Linwood Barclay? I finished it and I think you would really like it and it was only 1.99 on Kindle. I am now reading the sequel, No Safe House and it is really good too, although I paid 6 0r 7$ for it. I think I will add your new book to my list. We finally got rain and now it will be sunny again the rest of the week. I always wanted 4 boys, but didn't get them!..Happy Tuesday..Judy
ReplyDeleteVery brief article and revolve around the main idea. It doesn’t weaken your imagination.
