Today I am sharing my very first Christmas project of 2014. I won't be completely decking our halls for a couple of more weeks, but I have been having fun with a few projects that I will share early in case you might want to make one for yourself!
***Update: E6000 glue (available at craft stores in the glue section) is probably a better choice to glue the cookie cutters together, rather than hot glue. The E6000 will hold better over time.***

This was so easy! Cutting and glueing was all it took and I love the mix of patterns and colors that the scrapbook paper provides. To start, you will need a mix of cookie cutters in a variety of sizes (I bought mine on Amazon), scrapbook paper, glue and a ribbon. First, lay out the cookie cutters in a wreath pattern. This was kind of like a puzzle trying to figure out which way they fit best. Mine turned out a bit oval, although I was going for round. I am definitely not a perfectionist!
Then, trace, cut and glue the scrapbook paper onto the cookie cutters. I didn't use scrapbook paper on every cookie cutter because I liked the mix, but you certainly could add it to all of them..or none of them. I used E6000 glue but I could have used my glue gun. And I didn't always do a perfect job of tracing. I just trimmed off the excess paper after the glue dried.
Finally, glue the whole wreath together using a hot glue gun. Work your way around the wreath glueing everywhere the cookie cutters meet.
Add a decorative ribbon and you are done!
Baking Christmas cookies is such an important part of our holiday season so I am planning on hanging this wreath over the sink in our kitchen.
Have you started any Christmas crafts yet?
How adorable! I should make one for my mom since she always has the boys over to make cookies!

Hi Shelley,
DeleteThe wreath was so quick and easy to make! You should definitely make one for your mom. I think it is so great that your mom bakes cookies with your kids. I still think (and talk about) my grandmother when we make her cookie recipes each Christmas. It’s all about the traditions, right?
Hope you are having a great week!

Love love love
ReplyDeleteCourtney,
ReplyDeleteOhhhhhhh this is too cute. I love it over your sink in the kitchen. Just adorable. What a great idea. I think this would make such a cute gift. We do a cookie exchange with my family and I think I may make one of these to hang over the table we spread the cookies out on for the cookie exchange. Love this.

Courtney, that is just so cute. I've seen one with just the cookie cutters but not with the pretty pattern behind. I love this one and it looks so perfect in your kitchen window..Happy Thanksgiving..Judy
ReplyDeleteHi Judy,
DeleteThank you! I think the patterned paper definitely adds a lot to the wreath too. I hope you are having a great week and a wonderful Thanksgiving! Courtney
This is so charming, Courtney! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this idea!!! Will be trying this out sometime this week!!! Thank you for sharing!!!
ReplyDeleteSo cute!! Happy Holidays.
ReplyDeleteI just went to my local Walmart and they had $.05 cookie cutters on clearance!! So I got 20 cutters for $1.00... I hope that is enough!! I don't know if I can wait for Christmas to make it!!!
ReplyDeleteHi! I LOVE this and I am making it for Christmas gifts this year! I have a question about glue. I was going to hot glue the cookie cutters together but AC Moore told me not to...they said to use E6000 instead...will E6000 work to hold them all together? Or is hot glue best?
ReplyDeleteThank you! Merry Christmas! Holly
Your wreath is so nice and that is pretty unbelieveable for me. Your idea is good as for me.
