I am sure you wouldn't be surprised to hear that the season was fall when we designed and built our family room addition. I was obviously very inspired by the traditional colors of the season. Especially when I picked the fabric for the chairs in front of the fireplace.
This room always has a comfortable, "fall like" vibe to it. When I think of fall, I think of flannel and leather boots and fires in the fireplace. This room represents all of those things. And five years later, I still love the traditional feel in this room...most of all in fall.
I struggled a bit with what to put on our mantel this year. I loved last year's pallet sign, but I wanted something that was less blatantly fall-ish. Something a bit more subtle. So of course I looked to Pinterest for some inspiration. Recently, I have been pinning more and more pictures of eclectic rooms. I wanted our mantel to have an eclectic and collected feel to it because to me, fall is about coming back inside and enjoying our home.
I started with the round basket (from HomeGoods) and added the two vintage paint by numbers that I picked up at an auction in Upstate NY this summer. I added a few other of our favorite things that we already had in this room.
The paint by numbers remind us of being in Schroon Lake. I have no idea who took the time to paint these, but I imagine that they too loved the mountains as we do.
These velvet pumpkins are the only things I purchased new for this space this year. I love the texture and color they add. I purchased them up at HomeGoods (the larger one) and Marshalls (smaller two).
I hope you enjoyed seeing some pictures of our family room. In my next post, I will share some pictures of our kitchen and living room. Have you been decorating for fall yet?
