The kids here in NJ are finally back in school. Reading on blogs about how so many other's kids have been back to school for weeks makes us feel behind! Now, if the temperatures would cooperate, maybe we can begin to think about my favorite season, Autumn. For now, we are still swimming in the pool, but I can dream about wearing boots and flannels. And get some ideas together for how to add some Autumn touches to our home.
My favorite part of our Fall decor last year was the pallet sign that I painted for over our fireplace. You can find the tutorial for how I made it here. I thought the weathered pallet wood added just the right touch of rustic-ness to our family room. And I still love that Emily Bronte quote.
Our family room is always the coziest place in the house at this time of year. For the mantel this year, I will probably go a bit simpler, but I still haven't decided.
I can't wait to pull out our DIY Autumn centerpiece that Billy made a few years back.
Here's a fall decor picture from a couple of years ago, before I was a blogger and obviously way before my photography skills improved. This was our dining room that year. This space is currently our living room.
Outside, we stenciled our house number on some pumpkins and everyone who visited loved it. I think I will do that again this year. (that's not our real house # in the picture ;).
I can't wait to start cooking some comfort foods. This is one of our family's favorite recipes for Chicken Pot Pie and you can find it here.
I can't wait to visit the Adirondacks and Vermont!
Finally, I need to think about some costumes to dress up the dogs in for Halloween!
Actually, I am pretty sure Forrest would be glad if I didn't do that this year:) Are you looking forward to Fall too?
