The weather in NJ has been gloriously fall like, the kids are back into their school routine, and it is time to start adding some fall touches to the house...love this time of year! I will be sharing the rooms as I go and hopefully you will enjoy following along. I started in the entryway/foyer.
Since adding the chalkboard to our front entryway, I have been having the best time with decorating it. I love how impermanent chalk is...that way I can just erase things that don't come out on the chalkboard as I see them in my head. This happens often because, sadly, I am definitely not an artist! But that's ok, because I think decorating your home should be fun...it doesn't need to be perfect. Here is what I came up with for fall.

I like our fall decor to be classic and colorful, so I added the wreath to bring in some color. I printed out the word Autumn in a pretty font on Picmonkey.com, enlarged it on Blockposters.com, and transferred it to the chalkboard using chalk on the back of the paper. Then I just free handed our initial and some leaves.
I borrowed the lamp and shade from our family room. Both were purchased at Target a few years ago. The red bookcase is also from Target's Threshold line.
We recently traded the deer head that previously hung over the chalkboard for this galvanized light we purchased at Lowes.
I angled the bookcase in the next picture so I could get a better view of it. After I took the photos, I liked it so much that I left it that way. I am forever rearranging.
Here is a closeup of the chalkboard...
Next post, I will be sharing our fall decor in the family room. Here is a quick peek in from the entryway. Click here to check out our Fall Family Room this year.
Thanks so much for stopping by! I hope you will come back soon.

Love the chalkboard. The entire house looks so warm and inviting! Makes me want to curl up and read a good book next to the fire. Love it all!!!

DeleteLooks so cozy! Even as a former teacher, just can't write as nicely on the chalk board! Awesomeness!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, Gena! Writing on this chalkboard definitely brings me back to my (long ago) teaching days. The best part is being able to erase what I don't like :) Have a wonderful weekend.
DeleteLooks amazing! Can you come decorate my house? :)
ReplyDeleteThanks! I would love to come help decorate your house :)
