Welcome to our Family Room all decorated for Christmas. This is the coziest spot in our home this time of year….
We like to keep things the same in here every year. This is where Christmas morning happens and we hope our kids will have great memories from right here.
During the colder months, there is always a fire burning in this fireplace and a Golden resting nearby.
I kept our mantel simple and natural with some birch logs and greenery cut from our yard. The red sweater covered faux deer head came from HomeGoods last Christmas. Last Christmas, he was above our faux fireplace up in our living room.
Billy and I dreamt of having a stone, wood-burning fireplace for many years. Three years ago, we finally built this one. These plaid chairs from Bassett are the most comfortable seats in the house. There will be many books read and card games played from these chairs in the next few months.
This family picture of us was taken at Christmas 3 years ago, when Keeper was just a tiny Golden puppy. My boys remember the year they got her for a present as their favorite Christmas.

A wire basket holds some of our favorite Christmas stories.
This is where we will be watching "Elf", "A Christmas Story", and "National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation". And some cheesy Hallmark movies for me. And some lots of video game playing for the boys.
"Mr. Willowby's Christmas Tree" is our family's favorite holiday book.
My mom has collected Nutcrackers forever and she has been passing some on to my boys. I had to laugh when I looked at this picture. Can you spot something missing?
One of my guys likes to take the crown off the green nutcracker...and it is missing in this picture. I thought about fixing it and re-taking the picture, but then I thought that, really,
THIS is a better picture of what things look like in a house full of kids and dogs ;) The crown has since been safely returned.
Some photos displayed from Christmases Past...
The little mouse in the matchbox is another favorite that we take out at this time of year.
I hope you enjoyed seeing some of the things that are a part of our family's Christmas traditions. Do you have any favorite Christmas stories or movies? Do tell! I am always looking for things to add to our collection. Thanks so much for stopping by!
Love love love your family room! It's so cozy and filled with so many special things! Gotta love the movie Elf. We also love A Year Without a Santa Claus and one of my favorites - Scrooged with Bill Murray!
