Lately, it feels like there is so much pressure to get Christmas started before Thanksgiving. Problem is, Thanksgiving is my absolute favorite holiday! We usually go to my brother and sister in law's house. They live in a beautiful home on a lake and it's all about the family and food rather than presents and all the general craziness that comes with Christmas. And then, we get to listen to Christmas music on the ride home (and my boys will groan) and the Christmas season will begin for our family.
This week, I put away the Halloween things and took out a few of my favorite Thanksgiving things...

My mom made the stained glass turkey years ago and I love bringing it out every November. November also feels like the perfect time to peruse cookbooks for some new recipes to try out.
This year, I am also loving the graphic I purchased from Caravan Shoppe after reading about it at House of Smiths blog. Since we painted, we have left this wall empty and I think this is the perfect temporary solution.
Our dog, Forrest (but we really call him Gumpy), loves having his picture taken. Really. He poses every time he sees me take my camera out. Goldens love to please and I think he knows how much I enjoy taking pictures.
Our leaves were at their peak this week. Who can think about Christmas when this is right outside the window?
Very soon, the leaves will be gone. The daylight hours are much shorter starting today. Time to light a fire and start a new book.
We have been making progress on our kitchen redo project and I can't wait to show you some "during" pictures in my weekly wrap up post. Here's to a wonderful November!
Forrest is a cutie! We used to have a Golden and they are such sweet dogs! Love that big graphic!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Manuela. They really are such sweet dogs!!

Oh Forrest is such a doll! Your house looks beautiful all set up for fall and Thanksgiving! We host Thanksgiving at our house each year so I am not ready to rush towards Christmas either. Big congratulations to you on the Pottery Barn blog post. I just saw it!
