I combined two of my favorite things, throw pillows and chalkboard art, to create this chalk writing pillow. Come see how I did it...
I was inspired by this pillow by Pottery Barn.
I started with one of my favorite bargains at Ikea, the $3 pillow cover. I love using these to stencil on. For the price, you couldn't buy the fabric and make it yourself! Not to mention the fact that I can't sew!!
Then, I created an image of what I wanted to write on the pillow using Picmonkey. Here's the graphic I created. I needed the graphic to be slightly larger than a regular sized piece of paper, so I used the awesome Block Posters website to make it larger.
I then used the chalk method (like I do on my pallet signs and wrote about here) to transfer the image onto my pillow cover. Then, I simply traced over the image using a white fabric marker. I ended up using 2 fabric markers. So easy!
Finally, I added a few jingle bells in each corner and to dot the "i". I attached these just as you would a button with needle and thread. Hopefully, they will hang on thru the Christmas season, but I won't hold my breath. I am terrible at sewing!
Here is the pillow in its new home in our mudroom. Yes, our mudroom is already decorated for Christmas! I had to rent a wide angle lens to get some shots in our kitchen so I took advantage of having the lens and got these pictures. This mudroom is small so it is pretty much impossible to get a decent shot of this room without a wide angle lens. Santa, if you're reading this, I would love to find a wide angle lens under the tree :)
It came out PERFECT! And I adore that mudroom of yours!

That is so adorable! For the price of that pillow, it wouldn't be too painful even if you seriously goofed - which I just might. :)
